The CNE Lions PeeWee Baseball Committee

Central Ontario Girls Baseball League (COGBL)
will be hosting a Pee Wee and Bantam Girls Baseball Clinic

Date: Tuesday, August 31st
Time: 9 am to 12 noon

Where: Canadian National Exhibition (“The Ex”), Baseball Diamond
Cost: FREE !

A PeeWee and Bantam girls baseball clinic will be held at the CNE the morning of August 31st . The clinic will be run by members of the Central Ontario Girls Baseball League. All girls born between 1995 and 2001 are invited and encouraged to attend, whether they play baseball or not, regardless of skill level. Bring a friend. All are welcome!

The baseball clinic will consist of enhancing basic fielding, hitting, and throwing skills. We will demonstrate the benefits of smart base running and safe sliding techniques. We will also emphasize the importance of a proper warm-up prior to game/practice time. Make sure to bring lots of water!

After the clinic and a short break for lunch we will create teams and play some baseball!

In order for the organizers to plan effectively, we ask that you pre-register by August 30th.

2009 Burlington Bulls

WHoF Classic Champs! Kenosha, WI, 2009

It was a very successful journey from Toronto to Kenosha. The Annette Women's Baseball Team from Toronto won all the round robin games to face the South Bend Blue Sox (led by tourney organizer John Kovach) in a pitchers' game. Towards the end, the game opened up when the "meat" of the batting order came through with double, after double, after double. Final after 4 straight games, Annette outscored the competition 60 runs to 10. Well done Team!

The picture was taken with the Simmons Fields stands as the backdrop, where scenes from "a League of Their Own" were shot.

The team have attended many tournaments over the past 10 years. The core of the team has played together for about 8 years with several new players integrating beyond expectations over the past several years. This was one of the best tourneys for many reasons aside from being champs. It was a huge team building event. The team self-demonstrated without any "coaching" from the coaches their discipline, camaraderie, quiet confidence (without the cocky swagger), good spirits, team effort both on and off the field. Everything just clicked. I've never been so proud of these girls and proud to be their coach.
