BASEBALL CANADA SELECTS WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM

Baseball Canada has selected its 18 player roster for the 2004 season.

The coaching staff has had the opportunity to evaluate over 200 players across Canada over the last four months and came up with a list of 38 athletes for a selection camp in Montreal on May 22-23rd.

Baseball Canada's Women's National Team will represent Canada at the fourth Women's World Series July 18-21 in Uozu City, Japan as well as the inaugural Women's World Cup July 30 - August. 8 in Edmonton.

2004 COACHING STAFF

André Lachance – Manager
Andre, a native of Quebec City, joined Baseball Canada as Manager of Baseball Operations in February 2001. Before coming to Ottawa, André served as technical director for Baseball Québec for 5 years. He has coached at the Junior Élite level in Québec City and was a scout with the New York Yankees. André was also involved with the creation of the baseball program at Laval University where he managed the team to a National Championship in 1995.
 
Brad Lawlor – Assistant Coach
Brad joined Baseball Nova Scotia as the Executive Director in February 2003. Brad's coaching experience includes several teams in his native PEI, as well as St. Mary's University. Brad continues to develop programs and work with elite athletes in Nova Scotia.

Jean-Francois Lacroix – Assistant Coach
Jean Francois is a native of Montreal and currently works as a secondary school teacher. His baseball coaching experience spans a decade and includes teams that have participated in competition at the provincial, Canada Games and elite levels. Jean Francois has also taught at the Academie de Baseball Canada in Montreal.

Wayne Parro – Assistant Coach
Wayne is the Coaching Supervisor for Baseball Ontario and a member of the Baseball Canada CBET Committee. He has over 15 years of experience and has been involved with the Ontario High Performance Program for the past three years.
